What to Expect During KISUNLA® Infusion Therapy

  • KISUNLA® is given through an intravenous infusion. Each infusion typically takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Before starting treatment, your doctor will:

  • Perform MRI brain scans to establish a baseline
  • Likely test for a specific genetic factor (APOE-E4) that could increase your risk of side effects
  • Ask about all medications you are taking, especially blood thinners

During your treatment course you'll have regular MRI scans to monitor for any changes in your brain. Unlike other Alzheimer's medications, you may be able to stop taking KISUNLA® once PET scans show your amyloid levels have decreased sufficiently. In clinical trials, about 17% of patients were able to stop after 6 months, 47% after a year, and 69% after 18 months.

KISUNLA® Side Effects

Hightened risk factors for side effects include having a specific genetic risk factor (homozygous apolipoprotein E ε4 gene carriers) and taking blood thinning medications. Remember to immediately report any side effects to your healthcare provider, especially if you experience symptoms that could indicate ARIA, which my require immediate medical attention.
