About Iron Infusion Therapy
Iron infusions deliver iron directly into the bloodstream through an IV line. This method bypasses the digestive system, making it an effective treatment option for patients who can not tolerate oral iron supplements or have conditions that precent proper iron absorption.
At Violet Health, we offer the following iron infusion options:
FERAHEME® (Ferumoxytol), INJECTAFER® (Ferric Carboxymaltose), and VENOFER® (Iron Sucrose)

Conditions treated by this therapy
iron infusion therapy is primarily used to treat iron deficiency anemia (IDA), however it's particularly beneficial for specific medical conditions when oral iron is insufficient or not well tolerated.
- Iron deficiency anemia (IDA)
- Chronic kidney disease
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Heart failure
- Cancer-related anemia
- Heavy uterine bleeding/ women's health
- Gastric bypass and other digestive surgeries
- Other conditions that affect one's ability to absorb or tolerate iron

Iron Infusion Price
The cost of prescription medications can vary depending on your insurance coverage. If you're concerned about the price of your medication:
- Contact your insurance provider to understand your coverage
- Ask your doctor or pharmacist about lower-cost alternatives
- Check with the drug manufacturer about financial assistance programs
- Explore patient assistance options if you're uninsured or underinsured
Remember, many resources exist to help patients access necessary medications. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you're struggling with medication costs. No patient should go without necessary treatment due to financial limitations. If you have questions about financial assistance opportunities, contact a member of our Violet Health team.
