ILUMYA® is a prescription medication that treats moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in adults. It belongs to a group of medications called IL-23 inhibitors Ilumyapro, which work by targeting a specific part of your immune system that's overactive in psoriasis.
If you have moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis that hasn't responded well enough to other treatments, or if you're a candidate for systemic therapy (pills) or phototherapy (light treatment), your doctor might recommend ILUMYA®.
ILUMYA® (tildrakizumab-asmn) is FDA-approved specifically for the treatment of adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who are candidates for systemic therapy or phototherapy.
Plaque psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that causes patches of thick, red skin with silvery scales. These patches (called plaques) most commonly appear on the knees, elbows, scalp, and lower back, but can affect any area of the body.
ILUMYA® is not currently FDA-approved to treat psoriatic arthritis, although clinical studies for this use are ongoing.
The out-of-pocket ILUMYA® price will vary depending on your insurance coverage. If you have questions about your coverage, contact your insurance provider.
No patient should go without necessary treatment due to financial limitations. If you have questions about financial assistance opportunities, contact a member of our Violet Health team.
ILUMYA® is given as an injection under your skin (called a subcutaneous injection) by your healthcare provider. You'll receive the first dose, then another dose 4 weeks later, and then doses every 12 weeks after that.
This means after your first two doses, you'll only need to come in for treatment four times a year, which many patients find convenient compared to medications that require more frequent dosing.
Before your infusion, it is important to drink plenty of water and come to your appointment hydrated.
Before starting ILUMYA®, it is important to tell your doctor about any infections you currently have or that keep coming back, if you have tuberculosis (TB) or have been in close contact with someone who has TB, any allergies you have, all medications, vitamins and supplements you are taking and whether you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
Not everyone will experience side effect, however the most common side effects include:
