COSENTYX® is a prescription medicine that helps treat several conditions related to inflammation in your body. It belongs to a group of medications called interleukin inhibitors, which work by blocking a specific protein in your body (called IL-17A) that can cause inflammation.
Your immune system normally protects your body against infections and diseases. However, sometimes it can mistakenly attack healthy parts of your body, causing inflammation and symptoms of various conditions. COSENTYX targets and blocks a specific messenger in your immune system that contributes to inflammation. By blocking this messenger, COSENTYX helps reduce the inflammation and improve your symptoms.
COSENTYX® is approved to treat several conditions:
The out-of-pocket COSENTYX® price will vary depending on your insurance coverage. If you have questions about your coverage, contact your insurance provider.
Many patients with commercial insurance qualify for the COSENTYX® Co-pay Program which can help cover the out-of-pocket COSENTYX® price. For those without insurance, they may be eligible for financial resources and drug assistance programs.
No patient should go without necessary treatment due to financial limitations. If you have questions about financial assistance opportunities, contact a member of our Violet Health team.
COSENTYX® is given as an injection under the skin. Your healthcare provider will show you or your caregiver how to give the injections if you'll be doing them at home. COSENTYX® comes in different forms, including pre-filled pens and syringes that make it easier to give yourself the medication.
When you first start COSENTYX®, you'll typically receive more frequent doses (called loading doses). After these initial doses, most people only need to take COSENTYX® once a month depending on their condition.
COSENTYX® isn't a cure for your condition, but it can help manage your symptoms and may improve your quality of life. It may take several weeks before you notice improvements in your symptoms. It's important to continue taking COSENTYX® as prescribed, even if you start feeling better.
Your healthcare provider will monitor your progress and can answer any questions you have about your treatment. Always discuss any concerns or new symptoms with your doctor.
The most common COSENTYX® side effects are:
