About CABENUVA® Injection Therapy

CABENUVA® (cabotegravir and rilpivirine) is a complete long-acting HIV treatment regimen that represents a significant advancement in HIV care. Unlike daily oral medications, CABENUVA® is administered as monthly or every-other-month injections, offering freedom from daily pills for people living with HIV.

Conditions treated by this therapy

CABENUVA® is FDA-approved as a complete regimen for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents 12 years of age and older weighing at least 77 lbs (35 kg) who meet specific criteria:

Have achieved virologic suppression (undetectable viral load, HIV-1 RNA <50 copies/mL) on their current antiretroviral regimen
Have no history of treatment failure
Have no known or suspected resistance to cabotegravir or rilpivirine

What to Expect During CABENUVA® Injection Therapy

When you arrive at our West Bloomfield location, you'll experience our private, welcoming atmosphere designed with your comfort and discretion in mind. Our experienced team will:

Review your current health status
Check your vital signs
Administer both injections (one in each buttock)
Monitor you for any immediate reactions
Ensure your privacy and comfort throughout

The injections take just a few minutes. While you may experience some discomfort during administration and soreness afterward, many patients find this manageable and prefer it to taking daily pills.

CABENUVA® Side Effects

As with any medication, YEZTUGO® may cause side effects. Being informed helps you know what to watch for and when to contact your healthcare team. Common Side Effects:

Injection site reactions (pain, redness, swelling)
Headache
Fever
Fatigue
Muscle or back pain
Rash
Nausea

Although rare, serious side affects can occur. Please alert our clinical staff or seek medical attention immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:

Severe allergic reactions (difficulty breathing, swelling, severe rash)
Liver problems (yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, severe abdominal pain)
Depression or mood changes
Post-injection reactions (occurring within minutes of injection)
Hypersensitivity reactions including DRESS (Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms)
